What we do

Conferences

The UK Association for Public Administration (UKAPA) will continue the Joint University Council Public Administration Committee’s tradition of holding the UK’s major subject conference each September.  Conferences will continue to hold the Frank Stacey Memorial Lecture and Keynote Lecture, and each will be delivered by a distinguished academic or senior civil servant.

Funding Opportunities

The UK Association for Public Administration (UKAPA) supports the development and promotion of public administration research and scholarship. In addition to ad hoc funding opportunities, we also run two annual funding competitions, with details below.

Research

UKAPA is committed to supporting research activity and dissemination through our core activities and through our network of public administration scholars.

Teaching and Learning

The UK Association for Public Administration (UKAPA) supports the teaching of public administration at undergraduate, masters, executive MPA and PhD level. Recognising that public administration and associated subjects are taught on a global level, we focus our efforts on the promotion of public administration teaching in UK universities.

Internationalisation

UKAPA is committed to supporting and promoting all aspects of research, teaching, knowledge exchange and the practice of public administration and associated disciplines in the UK and on a global level.

PhD Community

The UK Association for Public Administration (UKAPA) supports doctoral researchers on their way through their doctoral journey, in line with our key values of inclusive and impactful scholarship. We perceive doctoral researchers as our ‘next generation’ – whether your journey is towards becoming an academic, a public service practitioner or a policy-maker.
