In September 2023, UKAPA was delighted to see three colleagues and long-standing JUCPAC members recognised by the Academy of Social Sciences (under the auspices of JUCPAC) as one of 47 newly awarded Fellows from across the social sciences.
Will Hutton, President of the Academy, stated:
“It’s a pleasure to welcome these 47 leading social scientists to the Academy’s Fellowship. Throughout their careers so far, they have furthered our understanding, and made practical contributions, in a range of areas including improving the lives of children and adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa, post-conflict educational reforms and the role of education in peacebuilding, and working with planning authorities to value ecosystem services. I look forward to meeting and working with them to further promote the importance of the social sciences”.

Professor Paresh Wankhade
(Edgehill University). A world leading academic in public administration with a particular focus on emergency services management he is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the International
Professor Muris MacCarthaigh
(Queen’s University Belfast). A world leading academic in the field of public administration he is the Northern Ireland lead for the ESRC-funded International Public Policy
Professor Peter Murphy
(Nottingham Trent University). A renowned academic, former Senior Civil Servant, and former senior leader in local government he is Head of Research at Nottingham Business
